Our Story

As We Enter Our 5th Year in North Vancouver

Sept 4th, 2011 -  September 1st, 2011 marked the beginning of our fifth year in North Vancouver. We are excited about 2011 - 2012 because many business do not make it past their fifth year, however we are confident that we will continue to grow as we have in in the past and despite a difficult economy.

We are always looking for ways to diversify our service offerings to our clients. During the last twelve months we have been fortunate to have increased the number of ICBC claims and long-term disability (return to work) cases that we have dealt with, including work place visits.  In August, we started conducting Aquatic Therapy sessions at community center pools in North Vancouver.

In March 2011 we introduced Mindbody an online business management tool that gives our clients access to their own visits, schedule and purchase records.  This software also integrates smoothly with Constant Contact, a permission-based email system we use for our newsletter.  We will be using this to create more relevant emails based on what services our clients use.

Fascial Stretch Therapy is a service that has grown in leaps and bounds. There has been growing media coverage in 2011, including an article in IMPACT's July/August issue written by Alfred Ball, that featured a Lifemoves' client.

In the following year we endeavor to use more technology in innovative ways to bring our clients new content, continue to provide outstanding service and help us market our services.

Please join us on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to keep up with the latest information or subscribe to our newsletter (to the right).

How Lifemoves' Evolved

In 1999, Alfred Ball was inspired by his first client, John, a quadriplegic who was dedicated to maintaining has much of his fitness as he could. Alfred volunteered  as his Personal Trainer as part of a work experience for an Adapted Physical Activity course at UBC. His time with John extended into nearly two years of part-time work. Under Alfred's guidance, I have seen my balance, stamina and strength gradually improve. At age 76, I feel it is real progress.

During this time Alfred noticed that there was a distinct lack of accessible facilities and equipment for people with disabilities and chronic diseases (this has gradually changed).

Since then, Alfred has had the vision of owning and operating a company dedicated to helping these groups that were notably under-serviced. For nearly eight years Alfred had the good fortune of learning and working at Fitness World, developing into one of their top Personal Trainers and Practicing Kinesiologists.

In April 2007, Ann and Chris Frederick of Stretch to Win® gave him the final inspiration and confidence he needed to push his dreams forward and make the leap to his current role as President and founder of Life Moves Health and Fitness.

Life Moves Health and Fitness Inc., was founded in July 2007. Lifemoves® Health and Rehabilitation is a strategic partnership between Fitness World and Life Moves Health and Fitness Inc. Lifemoves® provides health, fitness, rehabilitation and lifestyle services to members and non-members transitioning from treatment to community fitness programs.

We are proud to have opened our first location in the North Van Fitness World in September 2007.
